ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: In the face of the alarming upsurge in the Coronavirus cases in the federal capital, a telemedicine Centre has been established at Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University (SZABMU) and Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) for taking direct doctors’ advice regarding the deadly virus.

The Telemedicine Centre would initially be functional from 9 am to 9 pm and later it would provide round the clock services to the public, as the cases of deadly virus soared to 27 in the metropolitan, taking the total count to 1238.

It is much-needed move, as at the time with the government urging the public to stay at home and maintain social distancing amid the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic as it would help ease the burden on existing medical facilities at hospitals.

The public message issued by the SZABMU/PIMS administration reads, “SZABMU/PIMS Islamabad where you will be directly connected to a doctor for your concerns and advice regarding Corona. The centre will initially be functional from 9 am to 9 pm starting from 26th March 2020 and later provide round the clock services. The UAN is 0304 111 2101”.

In the wake of COVID-19 pandemic, patients will be able to avoid a trip to the hospital or the clinics by using this service, as people due to panic visiting hospitals even because of the seasonal flu and cough due to which there is an extra rush in the hospitals which could also become a source of spread of the deadly virus.

Commander AFCENT appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in promoting regional peace and vowed to enhance cooperation in the fields of joint training, mutual exercises and military to military collaboration. In a separate meeting, Chief of the Air Staff also called on Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Commander-in-Chief of the Bahrain Defence Force.
