ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The vaccination of people aged 60 years or above against COVID-19 will be started across Pakistan from March 10 (Wednesday), according to the Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Asad Umar.

In a statement, Asad Umar said that the vaccinations will be done in reverse order by age i.e. the oldest person who has registered will be vaccinated first.

The registration for COVID-19 vaccination for all citizens 60 years and older began on February 20 in the Country, five days after the registration process for people of 65 years of age and older had already begun.

Meanwhile, according to the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), 54 more people succumbed to Coronavirus across the Country in the last 24 hours.

Of them, 35 people died in Punjab, 10 in Sindh, 5 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and 2 each in Islamabad and Azad Kashmir.

The NCOC told that 1,353 more people were tested positive across the Country on March 8.

By now, a total of 13,281 people have died of COVID-19 in the Country including 5,600 in Punjab, 4,436 in Sindh, 2,118 in KPK, 511 in Islamabad, 313 in AJK, 201 in Balochistan, and 102 in Gilgit-Baltistan.

Likewise, now the total number of Coronavirus Cases have reached 593,453 across Pakistan.

However, 563,823 COVID patients have now been recovered from the disease while 16,349 are still under treatment.
