ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The total fatalities caused by COVID-19 across Pakistan has surged to 10,908 following the emergence of 45 more deaths in the last 24 hours, the National Command & Operation Centre (NCOC) said on Saturday.
Out of deaths occurred on January 15, Punjab recorded 17, Sindh 14, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) 11, and Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT), Balochistan, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) 1 each.
To date, the highest number of COVID fatalities has been recorded in Punjab wherein 4,387 people have lost their lives to the virus followed by Sindh which has suffered 3,769 deaths.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province has suffered 1,773 deaths, ICT 450, AJK 238, Balochistan 190, and Gilgit-Baltistan 101.
As per the NCOC, 42,422 people were tested across the Country for COVID-19 on January 15, and out of them, 2,432 were found having contracted Coronavirus with a national positivity ratio of 5.73%.
So far, a total of 516,770 Coronavirus Cases have been detected in the Country including 233,396 in Sindh, 148,488 in Punjab, 62,996 in KPK, 39,888 in ICT, 18,537 in Balochistan, 8,583 in AJK, and 4,882 in Gilgit-Baltistan.
Of the total 516,770 infected persons, 472,099 have recovered now while as of January 16, 33,763 patients remain under treatment.
