Earlier today, during a press talk on Friday, Prime Minister Imran Khan announced the launch of a youth force labeled “Corona Relief Tigers” which will lead the fight against the Coronavirus in Pakistan.

“Recruitment for Corona Relief Tigers will formally begin on March 31. We are calling upon all volunteers,” said the prime minister during a special briefing to the media.

The registration process will continue from March 31 to April 10, and youth over the age of 18 years, irrespective of political affiliations, will be eligible to join the force.

Prime Minister Imran Khan said that the situation is changing dramatically across the globe regarding Coronavirus pandemic with the United States emerging as the new epicentre of the virus, so no one can say today what the situation will be two weeks down the line.

“That’s why we have to be prepared for the worst-case scenario (in Pakistan) in case the number of cases spike,” he said.

With the focus on improving the arrangements in terms of dealing with COVID-19, a special force has been announced to be formed today by Prime Minister who stated that:

“So I am announcing today, we are developing a special youth force. Preparations for this are in full swing. We will have a membership drive through the Citizen Portal.” He reminded everyone that “We have the world’s second-largest youth population” which is a great source of strength for the nation.

How Corona Relief Tigers Force will be working?

Prime Minister Imran Khan said while briefing about the Corona Relief Tiger Force that:

“The Corona Relief Tigers will be sent all over Pakistan. We will map out where there is a spike in cases and these tigers will be sent to those areas to deliver essential supplies.”

The prime minister added that the registration for the “Corona Relief Tigers Force” will commence from March 31, 2020. The registration will be done online through the PM Office Portal

Imran Khan further added that in the coming week, a ‘Corona Relief Fund’ will also be announced, which will welcome charitable donations so that the underprivileged can be looked after.

“Data on our daily wagers is being collected. We will also dispense funds from the Ehsas Programme and then this fund will be an added source to help people buy essential items for their families,” he said.

Prime Minister Imran Khan said that with the use of Information Technology and the Ehsas initiative, everyone who wishes to donate will be registered and will be able to see which areas need the most assistance.

Meanwhile, a huge number of youth are eagerly waiting for the registration process to begin through the Pakistan Citizen Portal on March 31.

Filled with the passion of serving the nation in this need of the hour, the vibrant and passionate youth of Pakistan have always been up to the mark whenever their contributions have been sought. Therefore, it won’t be a surprise if the youth again take everyone by storm and turn the tide in Pakistan’s favor when the whole world is embroiled in overcoming the pandemic of COVID-19.
