Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry made landmark achievements during 2014
Faisalabad, Pakistan: Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FCCI) President Engineer Rizwan Ashraf on Tuesday said the FCCI had made landmark achievements during 2014 paving a way for the expeditious growth of trade and industry in the region.
Addressing a get-together with the media persons in FCCI, he said that FCCI was the third largest chamber which had also been ranked second in revenue generation.
“It has successfully played a proactive role in resolving issues of the business community,” he added. He said the FCCI also served as the major spokesman of the people of Faisalabad and in this regard it made hectic activities and managed to start direct international flights from this city of textile.
He said that Fly Dubai was operating nine while Qatar Airways was managing three flights per week at the moment. He said that more air lines were now in the pipeline to start their operation from this city.
Engineer Rizwan Ashraf said that financial viability of FCCI was another major achievement of present executive body of the FCCI. He said third floor of the FCCI Complex had also been completed, adding the space had been rented out to the Export Processing Zone Authority (EPZA) and other commercial entities which would also prove helpful for the promotion of healthy business activities.
He said Faisalabad chamber had also emerged as the first green chamber of Pakistan by switching over from the traditional electricity to solar energy.
The Faisalabad chamber also tried its best to promote direct linkages between the business communities of different countries and in this connection five FCCI delegations visited various countries which would help business community to further strengthen its bilateral relations with these countries.
President FCCI said, “We have made arrangements with Chinese embassy to issue business visas on the recommendations of FCCI. Similar arrangements are also being made with other embassies which will particularly help the SME sector to play its dynamic role in enhancing exports to these countries.”
Rizwan Ashraf said that fully cognizant of its social corporate responsibilities, the FCCI played a major role in resolving environment related issues of the city. He thanked DCO Faisalabad Noorul Amin Mengal who entrusted the responsibility of green Faisalabad programme to him.
He said that large number of saplings was planted in public sector schools. Similarly FCCI and other associations also took the responsibility to make the canal road lush green after its expansion by heavily investing on tree plantation. The FCCI alone spent Rs 3.6 million on it. Moreover FCCI also planted 1000 plants in the area of Faisalabad International Airport after its upgradation and renovation.
Appreciating the role of media, he said that media had emerged as one of the most powerful advocacy instrument and without it they could not bring positive policy, behavioral and social changes.
