UN says more funds urgently required for drought-hit Tharparkar

ISLAMABAD: In order to tackle the nutrition crisis in the drought-affected Tharparkar region, more funds are urgently required, according to UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator Timo Pakkala.

In a statement Pakkala said that there are reports of a rise in number of malnutrition, clinical admissions and child mortality in Tharparkar.

Meanwhile, the Coordinator to Sindh Chief Minister Taj Haider said that over 100,000 wheat bags have been distributed in drought-hit areas. He said that over 55,000 patients including children have also been provided medical treatment.
