SHARJAH, UAE: Two Pakistani nationals suffered serious injuries on Tuesday in a road accident in Sharjah, the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The accident occurred at around 1.30 am local time in the Sharjah Industrial Area No. 1.

The reports said that the injured were identified as 29-year-old Qadi Hassan Khaled and Osman Zafar.

The overspeeding was reportedly the cause of the accident, resulting in injuries.

The reports said that the ill-fated car struck a cement barrier and four cars parked on the roadside before it flipped over.

The injured Pakistanis were rushed to the Al Kuwaiti Hospital in Sharjah wherein they were under treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

Meanwhile, Rafid Automotive Solutions recorded 953 minor traffic accidents in Sharjah during the Eid Ul Fitr.

The Assistant Director of Accident and RSA Department at Rafid Automotive Solutions Abdelrahman Al Shamsi said that a surge was witnessed in minor road accidents in the Emirate last week during the Eid Ul Fitr Holidays.

Al Shamsi said that accidents were mainly caused by distractions while driving, failure to follow traffic rules, and careless behaviour.
