SHARJAH, UAE: A young Indian actress was apprehended by the Sharjah Police as she reached the Emirate with possession of drugs; though later she was released on bail under restrictions.

The 27-year-old actress from Mumbai, whose name remains concealed, found herself in a dreadful situation weeks ago when she fell prey to swindlers.Indian actress arrested in Sharjah for drugs possessionReportedly, two men hoodwinked the actress with false promises, and tempted her to visit the United Arab Emirates (UAE) wherein she would go through an audition for a role in a Hollywood Web Series.

As she was leaving for the UAE, she was asked to carry a trophy to hand over that to someone in Sharjah, with which she complied. Though she was kept oblivious of what she was carrying had in fact drugs inside.

When the actress landed at the Sharjah Airport on April 01, she was found with a small quantity of drugs hidden in the trophy by the local authorities, and resultantly got apprehended.

The actress was imprisoned in Sharjah Jail for weeks before she was freed on a bail on April 26 night.

However, the actress is not allowed to leave the Country as she is undertrial and yet to prove her innocence in the drug case. Therefore, she is now staying with her relatives in the UAE.
