UAE6th Dalma Race Festival: Free Ferry Service on Dalma Island-Jebel Dhanna route

ABU DHABI, UAE: The Abu Dhabi Maritime has announced to provide free ferry service on the Dalma Island-Jebel Dhanna route during the upcoming 6th Edition of Dalma Race Festival.

The 6th Edition of Dalma Race Festival will kick off on April 28, 2023 in the Al Dhafra Region of Abu Dhabi.

The festival – held under the patronage of the Ruler’s Representative in the Al Dhafra Region Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan – will last till May 15.

The Dalma Race Festival is organized by the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club and the Festivals and the Cultural Heritage Programmes Committee.

The festival aims to support community events and Emirati productive families as well as revive traditional marine traditions and give the chance for the new generations to experience and value them while promoting economic development by shining light on Dalma and other Emirati Oslands in the Al Dhafra region, and highlighting their historical value and natural, pristine beauty.

6th Dalma Race Festival: Free Ferry Service on Dalma Island-Jebel Dhanna routeOver the 18 days, the Dalma Race Festival will see more than 3,000 sailors participate in the 60-foot dhow sailing which covers a distance of 80 nautical (125 kilometers).

The race will flag off from Dalma Island and touch eight islanding Sir Baniyas, Ghasha, Umm Al KurKum, Al Fatayer, Al Bazm, Al Fay, Marawah and Janana before finishing at Al Mirfa City.

The event will also feature a full lineup of exhilarating traditional, and aquatic activities including the Fishing Competition (casting), dominoes contests for men and women, carrom tournaments, cycling, running, fireworks, theatre events, and other folklore shows.

It will also include the Souq which contains a number of traditional kiosks that combine the Emirati maritime heritage, and many diverse shops that display local heritage products and popular foods, in addition to the Children’s Village & Theater with their daily competitions and prizes, heritage and folk contests, traditional handicrafts, and other functions that cater to all age groups.
