Two suicide blasts target Afghan army buses in Kabul, seven killed

KABUL, Afghanistan: At least seven persons were killed while 20 others sustained injuries when two suicide attacks took place targeting buses carrying Afghan national army personnel in Kabul on Wednesday morning.

The first blast took place in Kabul’s Kart-e-Char area while the second blast was reported in Deh Sabz area of the city.

The spokesman of the Afghan defence ministry General Zahir Azimi said that at least seven persons were killed and 15 others were injured after a suicide bomber rammed an explosive-laden vehicle into an Afghan army bus.

General Zahir Azimi further said that four others including two army officers were injured in the separate suicide attack in Tangi Tara Khel area.

The Taliban militants claimed responsibility for the twin blasts which occurred a day after Afghanistan and the United States signed the long-delayed bilateral security agreement to allow about 10,000 US troops to stay in the country after 2014.

“This is a clear message to the stooge government that signed the slave pact, and we will step up our attacks after this,” the Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid told media.
