PESHAWAR, Pakistan: At least two police personnel were killed while another injured when assailants opened fire on a police van in Chamkani area of Peshawar on Thursday.

One attacker was also killed in an exchange of fire with police. However, the other attacker succeeded in escaping.

Police said that a police mobile was on routine patrol in the area when unknown assailants on a motorcycle opened fire on it. Subsequently, three police personnel sustained severe injuries.

The injured police personnel were shifted to a hospital but two of the wounded succumbed to their injuries on the way.
