PESHAWAR, Pakistan: The security forces have arrested a key Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) commander Adnan Rashid in Shakai valley of South Waziristan, media citing highly placed intelligence sources reported.

The sources said that the TTP commander was arrested on Thursday last week in injured condition after he tried to escape from North Waziristan’s cordoned off area due to the ongoing military operation Zarb-e-Azb.

Later, Rashid was shifted to an undisclosed location by a helicopter.

The security forces also reportedly arrested one of the key al Qaeda commanders Mufti Zubair Marwat and his two guards Anwar and Faheem with Rashid.

The sources said that Mufti Zubair is the brother of Mufti Sajjad Marwat, an al Qaeda spokesman for Afghanistan and Pakistan.
