Treason case: Musharraf’s medial report submitted in special court

ISLAMABAD: The media report of former President Pervez Musharraf, who is admitted to a military hospital in Rawalpindi after he suffered heart problem, was submitted in the special court in sealed envelope on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the court granted exemption to Pervez Musharraf from appearance today, and said that it will give its verdict about medical report of Musharraf on Thursday.

A three-member special court headed by Justice Faisal Arab and comprising Justice Tahira Safdar and Justice Yawar Ali resumed the hearing of the treason case against former President Pervez Musharraf in Islamabad.

The former president’s enveloped medical report was presented before the special court after which lawyers of both sides requested the court to provide them copies of the same.

In his remarks, Justice Faisal Arab said that copies of medical report will be provided to the lawyers of both sides by this evening, and a decision on the same will be given on Thursday.

The sources said that according to the medical report, Musharraf is suffering from calcium deposition is his coronary artery, mental stress, frozen shoulder excess of cholesterol in bloodstream, prostrate enlargement, spinal and bone pain.

Earlier before the proceedings began, Musharraf’s counsel Ahmad Raza Kasuri told media representatives that his client’s blood and urine test report were being readied and most likely it would be submitted in the court today.

The counsel of Musharraf said that the matter relating to Pervez Musharraf’s medical report was between the court and the Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology (AFIC), adding the medical report hasn’t yet come to the legal team of former president.

Kasuri said that he has no communication with Pervez Musharraf and added his contact would have been possible had he been in good health. He added that the case has turned into a public trial, the court moving cautiously.

On Monday, the special court gave exemption to former President Pervez Musharraf from appearance from proceedings in the high treason case and ordered to produce medical report of Pervez Musharraf at 11:30am tomorrow (Tuesday).
