TourismTourism Corporation KPK to hold 'Hunar Mela', 'Huner e Hawwa' events

PESHAWAR, Pakistan: The Tourism Corporation Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (TCKP) in collaboration with Directorate of Culture has arranged holding of ‘Huner Mela’ and ‘Huner-e-Hawwa’ during the current month for the skilled entrepreneurs to showcase their products and boost income for their families.

Decision to this effect was taken at a meeting with Secretary Tourism Azam Khan in the chair here Tuesday.

The Huner Mela will be held on January 15-17 while the Huner-e-Hawwa, which is a female specific activity will be held on January 22-24 at PIA Planetarium Hayatabad Peshawar.

Speaking on the occasion, Secretary Azam Khan said that these activities were meant for fun along with business opportunities to encourage skilled folk especially females for marketing their products. “Artisans will be invited from all the regions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and will be provided stalls to showcase their talents,” said the official.

The artisans’ stalls will include handicrafts, embroidery, Taghar work, Bannu Royal Khaadi, stone carving, Peshawari caps, wax painting, metal work, wood carving, artwork, calligraphy, ring making, sitar making, Chitrali Patti, Gandhara Art, Drooza chappal, Sarghashay, Charsadda chapal, maizaray work, Karawa work, Sarkha, Dandas, Parunay, pottery work, blacksmith work, Hazara Jisti Shawl and Moti work and a lot of other items.

The stalls will also include traditional foods and cuisines representing all regions besides fashion show, concert and activities like food competitions etc and kids play area.
