ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Managing Director Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) Chaudhry Abdul Ghafoor Khan has said that there is an immense potential for joint promotion of tourism between Uzbekistan and Pakistan being the sharers of many common cultural values of Muslim brotherhood.
In a meeting with Ambassador of Uzbekistan in Pakistan Furqat A. Sidikov in Islamabad on Wednesday, that the MD PTDC said that the brotherly relations between Pakistan and Uzbekistan can be further enhanced by promoting each others tourism destinations among nationals of both the countries.
Abdul Ghafoor Khan said that PTDC and Uzbekistan Tourism Authority may enter in to a Memorandum of Understanding, in which, the articles for possible areas of joint tourism promotion will be added. He said that being one of the most blessed tourism destinations of the World, Pakistan can truly be a most favourite destination for Uzbek nationals.
The Uzbek envoy said that the prominent shrines of Imam Al-Bokhari and Hojja Daniyar, Mausoleums of At-Tirmizi and At-Muturidi attract thousands of Muslims from around the world. He said that Uzbekistan has won many awards in sports and they are also promoting sports tourism.
Furqat A. Sidikov said that entering in to Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on tourism cooperation will definitely increase tourist flow between the two brotherly countries. He said that since its independence in 1991, Uzbekistan has developed its tourist industry within a span of only five years.
The ambassador invited Managing Director PTDC to visit Uzbekistan and experience the development and environment maintained by Uzbekistan.
