ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Managing Director Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) Chaudhry Abdul Ghafoor has said that Tourism sector is growing so fast that it is creating job opportunities for degree holders in the discipline of tourism and hospitality.

Talking to the state-run news agency, he said that he has great pleasure that Final Meeting of National Curriculum Revision Committee in the discipline of Tourism & Hospitality is being held.

“After seeing the Curriculum of BS Degree in Tourism & Hospitality and concluded that it is very comprehensive course which will not only help students in developing and understanding the key issues of tourism but also support Pakistan’s tourism industry with quality manpower of international standards,” he said.

Managing Director PTDC said that especially the curriculum of BS Degree in Tourism & Hospitality is equally diverse, allowing students to master the professional skills needed for success in the field of Tourism & Hospitality, as well as gaining specialized knowledge and relevant practical experience through internship.

He added that students after completion of BS degree can choose to work in tourism sector.

He said that Degrees in Hospitality & Tourism will include a wide range of other subjects mentioned in Fifth and Seventh Semesters that will be taught in the degree course.

“Covering multiple subjects in one degree will not only make it more interesting to study, but it will also help students broaden their knowledge and develop new skills, he added.

He said that the degree will prepare students for leadership roles in this dynamic industry.

He suggested constitution of think tank on the subject of tourism and hospitality consisting of tourism professionals and professors of the subject, adding that after formulation, a meeting of the think tank will soon be held in Islamabad.

In addition to Experts on Tourism, representatives from HEC, Punjab University, Iqra University, Malakand University, Abdul Wali Khan University, Hazara University, Peshawar University and Islamia University also attended the meeting.
