LAHORE: The Punjab Assembly on Monday presented its fiscal budget for the year 2013-14 having a total outlay of Rs 882 billion.

The provincial Finance Minister Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman presented the budget in the assembly, with Speaker Rana Iqbal in the chair.

The minister said a huge amount of 20.43 billion rupees will be spent on the energy sector during next fiscal year.

He said the non-development expenditure of provincial departments will be reduced by 30 %. He said discretionary grants of ministers have been abolished.

The finance minister said the patwari system will be abolished by next year. He said the Computerized Land Record System will be completed throughout the province by next year. He said that 28 billion rupees will be spent on provision of sasta atta to people.

The minister said 5 billion rupees have been allocated for provision of daily use items to people during upcoming Holy Month of Ramazan.

Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman said 3 billion rupees have been allocated for improving the transport system. He said the Aashiyana Housing Scheme will be expanded to other parts of province.

He said Chief Minister’s Laptop Scheme will continue and an amount of 1.5 billion rupees will be spent. The Finance Minister said that 7.5 billion rupees will be spent on various projects of Punjab Foundation.

Punjab Finance Minister said Punjab will receive an amount of 702 billion rupees under the divisible resources under the NFC Award.

The Finance Minister announced an increase of 10 % in the salaries and pensions of the provincial government employees. He said that the minimum salary for labourers has been fixed as 10,000.
