ISLAMABAD: The nation celebrated the 136th birth anniversary of poet-philosopher Dr Allama Muhammad Iqbal on Saturday with traditional zeal and enthusiasm.
Literary, educational and cultural organisations had chalked out various programs to mark the day in a befitting manner and paid tributes to the services of the great poet who envisioned the idea of a separate homeland for the Muslims of subcontinent‚ which eventually led to the creation of Pakistan under the leadership of the Quaid-i-Azam.
Television channels did broadcast special programs relating to the Allama Iqbal’s life and achievements, while national flag was hoisted on all principal government buildings.
The traditional change of guards’ ceremony also took place at the Allama Iqbal mazaar in Lahore.
