GAYARI: Chief of Army Staff General (COAS) Ashfaq Parvez Kayani has vowed to continue efforts for the recovery of the remaining bodies of the martyrs of Gyari incident.

Addressing a Special ceremony to pay tribute to Pak Army martyrs of Gayari incident on Wednesday the Army Chief Ashfaq Parvez Kayani said that one hundred and thirty-three bodies of the martyrs have so far been recovered.

Kayani lauded the untiring efforts‚ dedication and devotion of the troops who succeeded in accomplishing this difficult task.

The Army Chief said that the entire nation stands by the armed forces of Pakistan in performing their sacred obligation of defence of the country.

Kayani said that those who sacrificed their lives for the defence of the motherland would never be forgotten.

Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani laid floral wreath on the monument of martyrs and addressed the ceremony, paying tribute the martyred soldiers and their heirs.

Kayani said that recovering the bodies of soldiers from the depth of mud and snow was a difficult task but the army has made it possible through the unprecedented efforts.

“Several experts had declared it impossible to retrieve bodies but we had the resolve to make the impossible possible, for which we transported heavy engineering machinery and carried out the massive digging work. Finally, we successfully retrieved all those buried,” Kayani said, while addressing the event in Siachen – the world’s highest battleground.

“We can’t ever forget those who laid down their lives defending the motherland,” the army chief added.
