Three TTP militants arrested in Balochistan

QUETTA, Pakistan: Three militants belonging to the banned Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) were arrested during a search operation conducted by the Frontier Corps (FC) personnel in southwestern Balochistan province on Saturday.

The security sources said that the search operation was carried out in Qilla Saifullah district of the restive province.

Earlier on Friday, the FC personnel seized huge cache of smuggled Iranian diesel during checking from various passenger coaches.

The sources said that the coaches were moving from Mand, Turbat and Gwadar to Karachi.

A total of 25,896 suspects have been arrested in 24,844 operations conducted by the security and law-enforcing agencies in different parts of the country since December 24 last year, according to a National Action Plan (NAP) implementation report issued last week.

The report stated that about 2519 suspects were arrested from Punjab, 4854 from Sindh, 14,165 from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and 3427 from Balochistan.

A 20-point national plan of action against terrorism was launched in the wake of December 16 militant attack at the army-run school in Peshawar that left more than 150 people mostly school children dead.

The outlawed TTP claimed responsibility for the Peshawar school massacre.
