Three FC personnel killed in Bajaur blast

PESHAWAR, Pakistan: An explosion took place in Mamoond tehsil of the Bajaur tribal region bordering Afghanistan on Thursday, killing three Frontier Corps personnel.

The sources said that the incident took place in Dama Dola area of Bajaur’s Mamoond tehsil where an improvised explosive device (IED) went off.

The IED was planted along the roadside, they added.

The security personnel rushed to the blast site and cordoned off the area.

Meanwhile, a search operation went underway in the area after the explosion.

Bajaur is one of seven agencies in the Federally Administrated Tribal Areas (FATA) of Pakistan and is the smallest agency of all the tribal agencies.

It has been a stronghold for various outlawed militant outfits including al Qaeda and other Pakistani militant groups, and a battleground between the army and insurgents.
