The deep analysis of available information and circumstantial evidence regarding the Middle East crisis, particularly the Yemen situation, provides interesting leads, and smoke screens can no longer hide the strategic realities.
By constantly targeting Saudi Arabia, the Houthis have exposed their operational capacity, which indicates that the Houthis are using weapons that had not even been used by Iran, and Tehran might not have the capacity to use such weapons; otherwise, they could have already been used against Israel after the massive Israel-US attacks.
The rapid proliferation of high-precision strike capabilities and advanced weaponry within the Houthi arsenal exposes sophisticated external enablement directly linked to foreign technological support.
One of the most dangerous parts of the situation is the media framing that indicated that the holiest places of Muslims were targeted, while the strike was directed at military infrastructure in Taif rather than the Holy City of Makkah. Portraying the incident as an attack on Makkah deliberately weaponizes religious sensitivities, distorts geographical realities, and obscures the actual military nature of the strike. Attempting to place Iran directly at the center of this confrontation could be a deliberate attempt to trigger sectarian clashes among Muslims. It is pertinent to mention that Houthi strikes look weaponized with external technological facilitation from Israel rather than being carried out under direct Iranian command.
It is pertinent to mention that stories of Al-Qaeda’s entry into the crisis and support for the Houthis are critical because Al-Qaeda is based on an anti-Shia narrative and has been attacking Shia interests while operating from Afghanistan. Some independent observers were amazed at how both could join hands. Of course, in the past also, Al-Qaeda has been working against Muslim interests and has faced criticism that it works for Zionist groups. So, the situation is clear, and that is why Al-Qaeda is expanding its base in Afghanistan so it can harm Pakistan, which has joined hands with Saudi Arabia for defence and peace in the region and may be planning to attack Iranian interests as might be planned by Israel.
Furthermore, though rhetorically the Houthis target Israel, their missile and drone payloads are directed overwhelmingly at Saudi sovereign territory, which refused to sign the Abraham Accords and has formed an alliance with Pakistan and Turkey for future defence. Instead of attacking Israeli military interests and strategic positions, the Houthis are constantly attacking Saudi Arabia. This deliberate selectivity demonstrates that the Houthi offensive serves to divert regional pressure away from Israel while actively attempting to destabilize the Arabian Peninsula. Such selectivity raises an unavoidable question regarding whose strategic interests the Houthi campaign actually serves and whether it is moving toward active regional destabilization.
The crisis also shows the capabilities of Saudi Arabia to protect its lands from aggression as Saudi Integrated Air and Missile Defense architecture has systematically intercepted and neutralized high-technology weapons, preventing multi-vector attacks from achieving their intended damage, and has demonstrated absolute operational resolve and military capability in defending its sovereign territory and neutralizing external aggression.
The critical strategic battleground remains the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait, where any asymmetric threat to maritime flow directly imperils international trade, global energy corridors, and regional stability. The situation in the Middle East is complex, and nothing can be said with clarity, but all leads unpack the Houthi-Israel nexus to destabilize the region and harm everybody that works for peace in the region, including Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey.
