RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: The security forces have killed six terrorists in an exchange of fire took place in Shawal area of the North Waziristan tribal region on Monday, according to the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR).
In a statement, the ISPR said that however, Lieutenant Colonel Faisal Malik and an army Jawan were also martyred in the clash with the terrorists.
The military operation Zarb-e-Azb which was launched in June 2014 following an attack at Karachi’s Jinnah international airport has entered into the final phase while according to the military sources, it has been yielding positive results.
Last week, the Pakistan army also began its ground operation in the Shawal area as part of the ongoing operation Zarb-e-Azb in the tribal region.

Since the Punjab Home Minister Colonel (retd) Shuja Khanzada was killed in a suicide attack in Punjab’s Attock district, the armed forces have intensified their actions against the terrorists with a series of aerial strikes to destroy terrorists’ hideouts in the tribal region.
Earlier in the day, the Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman and the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel held talks at the army’s general headquarters in Rawalpindi and during the meeting, they agreed to enhance their coordination in the final phase of the Zarb-e-Azb against terrorists in North Waziristan.
