Zarb-e-Azb: 20 more militants killed near Afghan border

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: As many as 20 more militants were killed as the joint military offensive ‘Zarb-e-Azb’ being conducted by Pakistan armed forces against militant outfits continues successfully in the volatile northwestern tribal region.

In a short statement issued on Saturday, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that fighter jets bombarded the hideouts of militants in the Dattakhel area of North Waziristan near the Afghan border.

Resultantly, 20 militants were killed while their several hideouts were also destroyed in the fresh air strikes.

Meanwhile, addressing the passing out parade at the Naval Academy in Islamabad on Saturday, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif said that the entire nation has the resolve to eliminate the menace of terrorism.

The COAS said that the military operation Zarb-e-Azb in North Waziristan agency is delivering decisive results and terrorists are resorting to desperate actions.

Earlier on Friday, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif while addressing the inaugural ceremony of Byco oil refinery in Balochistan’s Hub region also appreciated the success of Zarb-e-Azb, saying that the military operation is going in the right direction.

The prime minister said that the terrorists are weakening and now the temporarily displaced persons of the Federally Administrated Tribal Areas (FATA) are going back to their homes.
