US drone targets militant compound in N Waziristan, four killed

PESHAWAR, Pakistan: A fresh US drone strike was carried out in the Datta Khel tehsil of the North Waziristan tribal region on Saturday that killed at least four militants including a high-value target.

The official sources said that the drone fired one missile that hit a militant compound in Datta Khel tehsil.

Resultantly, four militants including an important Commander of Hafiz Gul Bahadur group, Mustafa, were killed.

It was the first US drone strike in Pakistani territory since the Taliban carried out a barbaric attack on an army-run school in Peshawar while the Pakistan army speeding its actions against the militants.

The Pakistan army has killed 62 militants in ground action and another 57 in aerial strikes in three different actions conducted in last two days, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif was informed during his Friday’s visit to the Khyber agency.

The Foreign Office has consistently condemned US drone strikes in Pakistani territory and maintained that these strikes amount to violation of our sovereignty and territorial integrity.

It also says that since Pakistan is already taking decisive action against the terrorist elements, the drone strikes in Pakistani territory are unnecessary and should be halted.
