UPPER DIR: Two high-ranking Pakistan Army officers were martyred in a roadside blast which hit military convoy in northwestern Upper Dir on Sunday.

According to ISPR statement, Major Genera Sanaullah and Lt. Col. Touseef were returning after visiting forward check posts when an explosion hit their vehicle.

Lance Naik Irfan Sattar, who was driving the vehicle, was also martyred in the blast which took place Binshahi area.

The ISPR said an IED planted on the road caused this blast.

Major Genera Sanaullah was General Officer Commanding (GOC) Swat whereas Lt. Col. Touseef was Commanding Officer 33 Baloch Regiment.

President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif have expressed deep sense of shock and grief over the martyrdom of senior Army officers in the incident.
