KARACHI, Pakistan: Unknown assailants opened fire on Allama Ali Akbar Kumaili, son of Shia scholar Allama Abbas Kumaili, in Karachi’s Azizabad area on Saturday, leaving him critically injured.

Akbar Kumaili was taken to a local hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

President Mamnoon Hussain, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Altaf Hussain, Majlis Wahdatul Muslimeen (MWM) and Tahaffuz Azadari Council (TAC) have strongly condemned the killing of Allama Ali Akbar Kumaili.
