PESHAWAR, Pakistan: Unidentified assailants shot dead an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) near Wazir Bagh area of Peshawar on early Thursday.
Police said that the ASI Asif Mehmood was killed when unknown gunmen opened fire on his vehicle near Yakatoot police station as he was carrying his children to school.
The assailants sped away on their motorcycle after launching the attack, police said.
The body of the dead ASI was shifted to the Lady Reading Hospital in Peshawar.
