PESHAWAR: Two policemen and one woman were killed in a gun battle between security forces and militants in the Rashid Gari area of Peshawar on Wednesday

According to details, police officials acted on information about armed militants taking refuge in the area. A raid was carried out on the suspected location.

During the raid, militants and police exchanged fire in which two police constables were killed.

The situation reached a deadlock when police suspected that one of the militants holed up in the building was a suicide bomber. However, a subsequent explosion caused the building to collapse, with the suspects still inside.

One woman was also reported to have died. However, the total number of casualties is still not known as officials sift the rubble for further bodies.

Police are still trying to determine whether the hideout was a safe-house for militants or a residential location occupied by the militants.
