PESHAWAR, Pakistan: Three policemen were killed while four others including a Station House Officer (SHO) were injured in an exchange of fire with the militants in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Tank district on Tuesday.

The police sources said that two militants were also killed by the security forces during the clash.

They said that the security forces received the information about the presence of suspected militants in the Omar Kalay village of Tank, and raided a house there.

However as the security forces reached there, the militants began firing at the security forces personnel which left three policemen martyred and four others including the SHO Alamgir Khan injured.

In retaliatory firing by the security forces, two militants identified as Jamal and his brother Afzal were also killed.

The injured policemen were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital Tank for medical treatment.

Like other parts of the country, the law enforcement agencies (LEAs) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are also engaged in carrying out search operations against the militants and suspected persons to ensure that the national plan of action against terrorism is implemented in its full spirit.
