Two dead, four injured in three blasts in Karachi

KARACHI: Two persons were killed while four others were wounded when three blasts went off in the city on Wednesday, Dispatch News Desk (DND) reported on 12 December, 2012.

The deadliest of the three blasts took place at a cafe in Quaidabad, claiming the lives of the owner of the cafe and a police constable who happened to be having tea there.

According to Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) of Quaidabad Division Kamal Khan, the deceased were identified as Police Constable Zahid and Siddiq Khan, the latter being the owner of Gharib Nawaz Hotel in New Muzaffarabad Colony of Quaidabad where the explosion took place.

The SP of the Crime Investigation Department Mazhar Mashwani told Dispatch News Desk (DND) that the bomb, which was detonated by a remote device, had been planted inside the cafe. The bomb weighed about three kilograms, SP Mashwani said, adding that the group behind Wednesday’s incident seemed to be the same one which had earlier exploded bombs in Saudabad in the Sachal police remits.

Before the blast in Quaidabad, terrorists struck the Peerabad area of the city on Wednesday morning with two separate blasts, one at a bakery and another at the house of a transporter, but luckily no loss of life took place in either incident though property worth millions of rupees got damaged.
