TTP claims responsibility of attack on police bus in Karachi

PESHAWAR: The outlawed Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) on Thursday claimed responsibility of bombing that ripped through a police bus in Karachi’s Razzakabad area earlier in the day, killing at least 13 persons.

Earlier in the day, a suicide bomber smashed his explosive-laden vehicle into a bus carrying more than 50 police personnel, who were on their way to discharge their duties at Bilawal House, near Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Elite Police Training Center in Karachi’s Razzakabad area on Thursday morning.

Resultantly, at least 13 persons were killed and 47 others including civilians were wounded, who were shifted to Karachi’s Jinnah hospital for medial treatement.

The attack came as the government peace committee has been negotiating with the Taliban-nominated team aimed at bringing an end to a seven-year-old insurgency in the country.

The TTP spokesman Shahidullah Shahid said that the attack on the police bus in Karachi was carried out in retaliation to the killing of their members by police and Rangers in Peshawar, Swabi and Karachi.

The spokesman added that the Taliban would continue to carry out such attacks in their defence until a ceasefire was announced.
