Three Shia lawyers killed in Karachi

KARACHI: Three Shia lawyers were shot dead and another sustained injuries in an ambush in the Arambagh area of the city on Wednesday, Dispatch News Desk (DND) reported.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Syed Ali Asif of the Preedy Division said four advocates, Gohar Shakeel Jaffery, his father Badar Munir Jaffery, Kafeel Ahmed Jaffery and Babar Ali Shah were traveling in a car on Wednesday afternoon when four men riding two motorcycles and wearing helmets sprayed the vehicle with bullets near the Masjid-i-Khizra at Pakistan Chowk and fled.

ASP further said that Shah, who was driving the car (R-7162), drove to the Civil Hospital in an injured condition. The other three were pronounced dead on arrival.

Following the incident, Sindh Home Minister Manzoor Wassan has suspended the SHO of the Arambagh police station, while two police teams were formed to investigate the murders.
