KARACHI, Pakistan: Unknown miscreants shot dead a deputy superintendent of police (DSP) along with driver and guard in Gulshan-i-Hadeed area of Karachi on Friday morning.
The incident occurred when the Bin Qasim DSP Fateh Muhammad Sangi accompanied by his driver and a guard was going to his office but in the meantime, unknown gunmen on a motorcycle opened fire on them.
Subsequently, all three of them sustained critical injuries and were shifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. However, they succumbed to their injuries while getting treatment.
The sources said that the firing incident took place near Bacha Khan Chowk in Karachi’s Gulshan-i-Hadeed Phase-I area.
The assailants managed to escape from the scene successfully after the attack.
Meanwhile, the banned Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) spokesperson Muhammad Khurasani claimed responsibility for the attack via an email sent to journalists.
Restoring peace in Karachi top priority: PM Nawaz
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif says restoration of peace in Karachi is the top most priority of the government and all necessary steps are being taken to this effect.
In a statement, he strongly condemned the murder of DSP Fateh Muhammad and two constables in an incident of firing in Karachi.
The prime minister extended condolences to the families of the deceased and directed an inquiry into the incident.
