PESHAWAR: At least three member of the bomb disposal unit (BDU) were killed and two others injured in a roadside remote-controlled bomb blast in Peshawar on Monday.
The sources said that BDU personnel were on their way to defuse another bomb in the Sheikh Muhammadi area of Badhber in Peshawar when an improvised explosive device planted along the roadside went off.
Resultantly, three personnel including BDU in-charge and sub-inspector Abdul Haq, constable Imtiaz and the driver of the vehicle Kashif were killed in the explosion while two people, including BDU official Aminul Haq and a pedestrian, were injured.
The injured were shifted to Lady Reading Hospital where Aminul Haq was reportedly in critical condition.
Police and other security personnel cordoned off the blast area and another bomb, containing four kilograms of explosive materials, was defused after a search operation that identified it went underway.
