KABUL: The Afghan Taliban have sorrounded eight election workers and several observers for three hours in the Sancharak district of Afghanistan’s northern Sar-i-Pul province on Saturday, the Afghan media citing the Independent Election Commission (IEC) official reported.
The IEC official Abdur Rahman Farid said that the workers have been encircled in Deh Murda area, 60 kilometres from the provincial capital.
Farid further said that they had asked security forces to rescue election staff.
