Islamabad: Afghan Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid has claimed that Taliban fighters carried out a tactical attack on Jalalabad airbase around 9:00 pm local time on Saturday and eight explosions including suicide attacks were carried out which left several local and foreign soldiers dead.

Meanwhile Afghan security forces claimed that incident took place around 6:00 pm local time after a group of militants attacked the base located in the airport in Jalalabad city. The official further added that no casualties were reported following the attack and the assailant militants were killed during the gunfight.
