Six TTP militants arrested in Islamabad search operation

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The security forces conducted a search operation in various parts of Islamabad on Tuesday, and arrested six militants.

The police sources said that the arrested militants belong to the banned terror organization Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

The search operation was carried out in Turnol, Bara Kahu and Shahzad Town areas of Islamabad.

The arrested terror suspects were moved to an undisclosed location following the arrests.

The operation was conducted as part of the implementation of anti-terror national action plan (NAP) adopted in the wake of the deadly terror attack that hit an army-run school in Peshawar on December 16, claiming lives of 150 persons mostly children.

A report issued on January 30 stated that a total of 8,837 suspected terrorists have been arrested across the country since the adoption of the NAP.

The report said that 1,859 terror suspects have been arrested in Punjab, 1,178 in Sindh, 4,949 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 263 in Balochistan, 455 in Islamabad, five in Azad Jammu & Kashmir, 10 in Gilgit-Baltistan and 118 in the federally administrated tribal areas (FATA).

It said that over 9,000 operation have been conducted in Punjab, 1,178 in Sindh, 2,326 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 30 in Balochistan 322 in Islamabad, 503 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, 16 in Gilgit-Baltistan and 47 in FATA.
