LAYYAH, Pakistan: Six terrorists were killed while two others escaped during armed encounter with Counter Terrorism Department’s (CTD) police force past midnight Wednesday in the limits of Chubara Police Station in Punjab’s Layyah district.
The CTD sources said that a credible source informed them of presence of eight terrorists in the jurisdiction of Chubara Police Station.
Sources said that terrorists belonging to Al-Qaida and Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) were planning to attack offices and personnel of LEA’s.
A team of CTD from Multan raided hideout of the terrorists who opened straight fire at the team. The police also retaliated.
Six terrorists were found dead when firing stopped, sources informed, adding that terrorists were killed by firing of their own accomplices. They said that two terrorists managed to escape under the cover of darkness.
The police recovered two hand-grenades, two automatic rifles, one TT pistol, and a mouser.
The CTD authorities launched investigation into the incident.
