PESHAWAR, Pakistan: A US drone strike was carried out in Shawal tehsil of the North Waziristan tribal region on Wednesday that left at least six militants killed and three others injured.
The incident took place in Kund Sar area of Shawal tehsil while according to sources, the drone fired two missiles at a militant compound.
The identities of the militants could not be ascertained.
Pakistan has consistently strongly condemned US drone strikes in its territory and demanded an immediate end to these.
“Pakistan considers such strikes a violation of its sovereignty and territorial integrity, especially at a time when our authorities are engaged in taking decisive action against terrorist elements in North Waziristan Agency,” the foreign office spokesperson Tasneem Aslam said earlier this month in response to a US drone strike in Pakistan’s tribal region.
The Pakistan’s army has been carrying a full-fledged military operation against the militants in North Waziristan as well as in Khyber agency since a couple of months as a part of efforts to end militancy in the country.
On Tuesday, the Pakistan’s military also carried out precise aerial strikes in North Waziristan and killed 20 militants, according to the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR).
