Shia pilgrims’ bus attacked in Quetta, two killed

QUETTA, Pakistan: Unknown assailants opened fire on a bus carrying Shia pilgrims in Quetta’s Satelite Town on Monday that left at least two persons dead and another injured.

The incident took place near the Chandni Chowk area where the bus was travelling from Quetta to Taftan, a town of Balochistan’s Chaghi district near the Iran border.

The assailants successfully managed to escape from the scene after the attack.

Meanwhile, the security and rescue personnel reached the spot and shifted the victims to Civil Hospital Quetta for medical treatment.

The country’s western Balochistan province has been in the grip of sectarianism, target killings and bomb blasts for several years.

Earlier on Sunday morning, at least four persons were killed and 18 injured in a roadside explosion at Chakar Khan Road in Balochistan’s Sibi district.

The sources said that the explosive material was planted in a bicycle near a barber’s shop which went off with a big bang.
