BEIRUT: A powerful car bomb blast occurred in the southern suburbs of the Lebanese capital, Beirut, on Tuesday that left at least 53 persons injured, reports said.
The blast took place in an area of southern Beirut, a stronghold for the Lebanese pro-Syrian Shiite Hezbollah militant group.
Several cars and buildings were on fire in the wake of the blast.
