Seven militants including two Uzbeks in South Waziristan drone strike

PESHAWAR, Pakistan: A US drone strike was carried out in South Waziristan agency on Thursday, killing at least seven militants including two Uzbeks as according to reports.

The intelligence sources said that the US drone fired two missiles on a compound in Wacha Dara area of Liddah tehsil in South Waziristan, one of Pakistan’s seven northwestern tribal districts near the Afghan border.

The sources said that the strike killed two Uzbek militants along with five others while four militants also sustained injuries in the attack.

Pakistan has consistently condemned the US drone strikes in its territory, saying it regards such strikes as a violation of its sovereignty and territorial integrity.

It also says that since its armed forces are already taking decisive action against terrorist elements across the country including the volatile tribal region, the US drones strikes in the tribal areas are unnecessary and should be halted immediately.
