Seven killed in Kohat blast

KOHAT: At least seven persons, including four police officials, were killed on Saturday when an improvised explosive device (IED) placed in a cart went off near the new bus stand on Bannu Road, while seven cops and three civilians sustained injuries in the incident, Dispatch News Desk (DND) reported on 16 June, 2012.

Personnel of the Elite Force were travelling in a van when it was targeted with an IED as soon as it reached near the bus stand, official sources told Dispatch News Desk (DND).  An official of the bomb disposal unit said that 10-kg explosives were used in the blast.

Meanwhile, Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan reportedly claimed responsibility for the attack.
