RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: As many as seven soldiers of Frontier Corps (FC) embraced Shahadat (martyrdom) due to heavy fire from across the Pakistan-Afghan border early Tuesday morning, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.

In a short statement issued in Rawalpindi on Tuesday, the ISPR said that the FC Check Post located at Northeast of Angoor Adda in South Waziristan came under fire.

Since Pakistan’s armed forces launched a massive operation against various terror fits in the volatile tribal region along with Afghan border in June last year, numerous terrorists are believed to have fled to Afghanistan.

The operation has caused enormous destruction to the terrorists’ set up, they had established in the tribal region. More than 3,000 terrorists including some high profile fighters have been killed while the rest have run away to the Afghan area in the quest of having a safe shelter.

In recent past, a number of terror acts including the December 2014 attack on the army public school in Peshawar were planned and executed by the Taliban leadership from Afghanistan.

The government of Pakistan has consistently asked the Kabul government to take actions against the terrorist and not allow the Afghan territory to be used for subversive activities in Pakistan.
