KARACHI: A series of four blasts which took place within one hour near wine shops caused panic in different areas of Karachi, but no loss of life or damage to property was reported.

The blasts occurred near wine shops in Defense Housing Society and Gulshan-e-Iqbal areas, initial unconfirmed reports said.

Heavy contingents of police and bomb disposal squads rushed to the blast sides and launched probe into the incidents.

The SSP of South Karachi confirmed that the first blast occurred near Village Restaurant at Sea View and second blast near a shop in First lane of Khayaban-e-Rahat and third in another part of nearby area. All blasts took place near closed wine shops, he added.

Another blast was reported from Gulshan-e-Iqbal area of the city.

The blast-hit areas were cordoned off and closed for the traffic, informed police officials.

Moreover, the police arrested few suspects including owner of the motorbike from the blast side and started interrogation from those to find clues about the blasts.

None has accepted responsibility of the blats while police have beefed up security at all wine shops in the city.
