Security forces reserve right to retaliate against militants attacks: Khawaja Asif

ISLAMABAD: The federal minister for defence Khawaja Muhammad Asif said on Friday that it is right of the security forces to retaliate attacks by the militants.

In a statement issued on Friday, the defence minister said that attacks on the security forces will not be tolerated at any cost and the government will not show leniency towards terrorists.

On Wednesday, at least 4 soldiers were killed and 25 others injured in a suicide attack at Khajuri checkpost area in Mirali Tehsil of North Waziristan tribal region. Later on the same day, a group of militants tried to ambush a security forces’ convoy when it was returning back from Khajuri checkpost where they had gone to rescue soldiers who were injured in the earlier suicide attack.

In response, the security forces retaliated and killed at least 23 militants. As many as 10 more militants mostly Uzbek were killed by the security forces when they conducted a search operation at Mirali area.
