ISLAMABAD: Kanwal, the wife of gunman Sikandar who held Islamabad hostage in hours long standoff with police, was handed over to police on one-day transit remand.

The woman was presented before a local magistrate who accepted police’s request for remand.

Islamabad police registered a case against the gunman at Kohsar police station under Section 6 of the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA). Sikandar’s wife Kanwal was also named in the FIR.

The gunman was accompanied by his wife and two children who have been now in police custody.

Sikandar been admitted in Islamabad’s PIMS hospital where his condition is improving.
