ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Strongly condemning the terrorist attack in Quetta, Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Wednesday said that these cowardly attacks cannot shake our unflinching national resolve against terrorism and extremism.
Earlier in the day, seven police personnel were martyred while further 22 mostly police officials sustained injuries in a suicide bomb explosion on Sibi Road in Quetta.
Following the blast, the rescue teams took the dead bodies and injured to the Civil Hospital and Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Quetta.
In a statement, the prime minister paid tributes to police personnel who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty, and directed for best medical treatment for the injured.
The prime minister expressed deep grief and sorrow over the loss of precious lives during the terrorist attack.
Sympathizing with the bereaved families, the prime minister prayed for eternal peace of the departed souls and grant of courage to the families to bear this irreparable loss. He also prayed for swift recovery of the injured.
The Superintendent of Police (Security) Javed Iqbal Garshin said that a suicide bomber hit his explosive-laden auto-rickshaw with a police truck.
Meanwhile in a separate incident also occurred in Quetta, some unknown persons shot dead Police Inspector Abdul Salam on Qambrani Road when he was on his way to office.
