ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Thursday directed to remove lacunas in the anti-terrorism laws to ensure that culprits involved in atrocious terrorist activities are fairly punished.

The premier said this while chairing a high level meeting to review proposed amendments in anti-terrorism laws this afternoon.

Sharif said there should be no gap and loophole in the anti-terrorism laws which allow the terrorists to get away with dreadful crimes. He said we need strong‚ transparent but stringent laws to cope with the menace of terrorism.

The prime minister said the required amendments must be finalized as soon as possible.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif underlined the need of amending the existing laws so that people involved in brutal and inhuman activities are bought to book and penalized under the laws of the land.

The meeting was also attended by Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan‚ Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid‚ Minister for Science and Technology Zahid Hamid and senior officials.
